Anonymous detransitioner #1
I began engaging with transgender medicine in my early twenties, fully funded by medicaid. During that time I was churned through the conveyer belt of medicalization, beginning with exogenous hormones and ending at two major surgeries. Once I decided to desist and detransition, the providers I had gone to for years were happy to continue experimenting with my care, and I suffered more as a result. There was no longer funding or resources to help me through the aftermath of becoming a lifelong medical patient. It’s been extremely difficult to find providers that are willing and able to treat me from a solid footing in scientifically backed medicine–and far too easy to find those who have been willing to continue experimenting. I discover new side effects and consequences of the medicalization I’ve undergone, regularly. As I grapple with the physical symptoms and emotional repercussions of the myriad negligence, it’s felt nigh on impossible to search for providers on my own. Not only has The Resilience Health Network helped me, but they’ve gone above and beyond with their genuine care as if they know me and have a personal stake in my well-being; I’ve not met a single person within the organization. I’m immensely appreciative of the kindness, consideration and detail oriented help I’ve received and I cannot thank any of you enough. As so many of us wake up to having been experimented on, compassion and knowledge are paramount to helping us access the health we can–this network is paving the way and I’m truly delighted to be working with them. Providers, if you need a push, let this testimony be the sign to add your name to the directory. Our numbers are growing, and we need yours to as well.
